Macau by night (I LOVE Macau- I'm going back in the december holidays probably)
During my primary school years, I lived smack bang in the middle of the city and the whole time, I thought we should move from our slightly cramped and eternally messy apartment and into a slightly more spacious house in the suburbs (inner west specifically because all my friends lived around there) with a nice garden (so I could have a dog).
After I started highschool which was an hour's drive from where I lived, we bought a house in the suburbs and moved most of our stuff there so I could be closer to my school. The suburb I moved to is really a mostly residential suburb with a train station, a few shops and a section with business buildings towards the west side of the suburb (which means that side gets the post office
!!).

I miss living in the city alot. Of course I love not waking up pre dawn so I wont be late to school and I love having a lovely, big house with a dog. Waking up in the morning to a bright window facing a magnificent garden is amazing.*
But I miss the crowds in the city. I thrive in bustling, busy places. Places that have lights flashing all night, and filled with people all hours of the day and night. I miss the noise. I love hearing the garbage trucks at 4am in the city, the sirens and drunken yelling when I'm about to sleep (its really comforting for me, tucked up in my warm bunk bed). I miss all the shops that were a two minute walk away. In the city, if i wanted to buy grocerys, I take a 2 minute walk to paddy's markets. in the suburbs, if i want to buy grocerys, I either drive down to a supermarket in the next suburb or drive/take the train to the city to buy grocerys. The variety and convience of the shops in the city was great. I didn't need to write out huge shopping lists to plan out what I needed to buy fortnightly on saturdays; if i wanted or needed it now, I could have it.
Living in the suburbs is really nice but I'm still a city person.

*though i do have this really fond memory from when I was about 7 and obviously still living in the city. I had just woken up on my bunk bed (I always slept on the top bunk and the bottom bunk was always empty but immaculately made) and the golden light streaming in from the glass door to the balcony was hitting my white wall and I remember just watching the light.
